Kristen is a bilingual education enthusiast who is passionate about second language acquisition, and how students can leverage their background and cultural heritage to acquire new languages. Kristen has spoken at regional, state, and national conferences about her efforts and responsibility to create an inclusive environment where students can simultaneously learn both English and Spanish to build pathways toward biliteracy, bilingualism, and sociocultural competence. Kristen currently serves as a Senior English Learner (EL) Programs Coordinator in Irving ISD, a suburb of Dallas, TX. She has also served as an EL Instructional Coach, Bilingual Literacy and Dyslexia Interventionist, and Dual Language and AP Spanish teacher at both the elementary and secondary level. Kristen’s passion for education began when she lived in Lima, Peru and worked as an English teacher and travel advisor after graduating from Texas A&M University.
