Anisa Syed has been teaching since 2011, from 1st to 9th grade. Currently, she teaches 5th grade French Immersion in a dual-language school. Known for her curiosity, warmth, and hands-on, research-driven approach, she brings energy and intention into everything she does, whether in the classroom or while travelling.

Anisa has lived in Tours, France, and has travelled extensively both independently and with Bookbag Tours. She has participated in trips to England and led tours in New Zealand, France, and Switzerland. On her own, she has taught in Honduras and travelled through Spain and Morocco, in addition to exploring parts of the United States and growing up in Canada (near Toronto.) These experiences shape how she connects with people and supports travellers, she understands both the excitement and the uncertainty that can come with being somewhere new.

As a trip leader, Anisa’s focus is on making the experience feel smooth, supported, and genuinely enjoyable. She keeps things organized behind the scenes while maintaining a relaxed, go-with-the-flow presence that allows travellers to settle in and make the most of their time. Whether you want to follow the group, explore independently, or try something specific you’ve been dreaming about, she’s there to help you make it happen.

She’s especially known for her resourcefulness. When a traveller expressed a dream of attending the Women’s Euro Cup while on a Switzerland trip, Anisa worked out the tickets, transportation, and logistics to make it possible. That kind of problem-solving, combined with a calm, steady approach, is something people consistently appreciate.

A self-proclaimed foodie and dedicated researcher, Anisa loves finding exceptional local spots and encouraging travellers to experience regional specialties. Her approach to travel is simple: meaningful moments, great food, and experiences that feel worth it.

She also understands that for many teachers, these trips represent something bigger: a long-awaited goal, a personal reset, or the first time doing something just for themselves. Anisa creates an environment where people feel comfortable, connected, and able to fully enjoy the experience, while the group naturally comes together over shared moments along the way.

Outside of teaching and travel, Anisa is an avid reader, a Dungeons & Dragons player, and a proud cat mom to Mischa, her equally well-travelled Siberian companion.

If you travel with Anisa, you can expect thoughtful support, incredible food, and a trip that feels both easy and memorable.
